YAMAWAKI Keizo is a professor of School of Global Japanese Studies at Meiji University. He specializes in migrant integration policy. He has advised numerous local governments as well as ministries of the national government in Japan. Since 2010, he has worked with the Council of Europe and the Japan Foundation to promote exchange of ideas and good practices in migrant integration between cities in Japan and Europe. In 2012-2013, he was based in Europe as a visiting fellow of the University of Oxford and that of the Migration Policy Group, Brussels.

In September 2012, he was chosen as one of the sixty-three Japanese citizens who have played a significant role in representing Japan in the world by the Cabinet Office of the Japanese government. In July 2018, he was also chosen as one of the awardees of the Foreign Minister's Commendations for his work on migrant integration for over the last fifteen years.
